ABOUT
Madelynn M is an aspiring composer, engraver, and conductor. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition at Western Michigan University. With interest in composing for different ensembles, styles, and mediums, she finds storytelling an integral part of her creative process. She finds most joy when composing for orchestra, mixed chamber ensembles, and for media. With a visual arts background, Madelynn has an immense enthusiasm for animation and its diversity. She is deeply passionate about the relationship of musical and visual arts. One of her goals is to apply her collaboration and composition skills to create original scores for film and other visual and multimedia projects. Inspired by the compelling relationship between musical and visual storytelling, she seeks to create music that enhances the narrative experience. Madelynn wants to create music with which others can relate to and find a story within themselves.

Madelynn has demonstrated leadership within her program, working closely with professors to help foster a welcoming composition community while continually expanding her musical expertise and creative abilities. She has studied with Dr. David Colson, Dr. Richard Adams, Dr. Carter Rice, and Dr. Lisa Coons.

Madelynn was honored with the nationally recognized John Philip Sousa Award during her senior year of high school. She was recently awarded the Multimedia Arts Technology/Composition Area Scholarship from Western Michigan University.
When she’s not composing, Madelynn stays connected with her musical pursuits through engraving and conducting. She hopes to combine these related elements throughout her career.

Outside of her professional work, she is a passionate animal lover and enjoys spending time outdoors, often taking walks through her and her partner’s favorite park. Madelynn adores dogs and often spends time with the family horses.
